You know people that you meet who dream up & build amazing things to leave you wondering, how in the h-e-double hockey sticks do they do that? For me, one of those creators is a prairie guy who towers over most. I come … Continue reading

“We are a freshly new start up company that connects with the modern world, while bringing a rustic & warm feeling to our work. We have our own inspirations from what we create, but thrive to customize our pieces for our customers; we tap into their creativity to make it more meaningful to them.
We offer (all custom) crochet scarves, headbands, toques, blankets, for both adults and kids; and even have sweaters & hair pieces for the little ones.
We also do (unique) woodwork. From personalized cutting boards to unique signs for your home. No two pieces are alike as most of our wood is salvaged from our very own prairie backyard.”

Coal and Canary is ready to fly

I love that Winnipeg is full of creative entrepreneurs. The other beauty about it is that when something local gets started, our very supportive Peg city folks normally like to give a new, more public emergence the benefit of the doubt. We help it hit the ground running & these ideas & new local features get their chance to fly.

I expect for Coal and Canary’s handmade & delectable sounding candles, there will be soaring.

With names such as “gimmie some sugar’, ‘the cider made me do it’ & ‘chunky knit sweater’, these seasonally titled wax jars of joy make me excited to light my first one & burn it until they (hopefully) surprise us with their next weather inspired scents! In the meantime this one below may help me curb the upcoming & always dreaded holiday padding….by that I mean pounds. Our winters are very cold & we need a little extra to survive…right?

Visit their site to learn more about the products and the creators, Tom & Amanda. The name already has a hint of wings to it. It just needs the lift. Of course all of these wonderful photos by Brittany Mahood Photography help show the elegant sweetness of the candles too.
