A rose by any other name would smell as sweet

Last week, a wonderfully sweet friend took me to a Floral Workshop for my birthday to learn about and create bouquets. I actually did learn things. Seeing as my Nana is an experienced gardner and I spent many summer days frolicking through her magazine worthy yard (and yes her gardens have been in many), I figured I knew a thing or two. This class was truly informative. From how to cut stems depending on their hardiness, to which ones to cut whilst under water and how to change the water daily, rather than add the ‘flower food’ florists provide to prolong your beautiful bouquets lifetime. We learned all of these little tips at

The teacher is shop owner Tatiana. She was witty, a little quirky and very sweet. When she made her example gathering her choice of flowers before us and talked about them, she exuded an appreciation and love each step and petal. You could tell it was a true passion. She built her piece using her hands and shears to split leaf branches and pull open rose heads, pinching out some of the middle petals to make them look completely different than their starting form, and it looked effortless.

I change the water daily and trim the stems just slightly to allow for them to have a fresh drink and stay as lively as the can. It has been 4 days since we attended the workshop and my 1 little tulip has grown about 4 inches taller. They are a stem that keeps groaning even after it is cut.

I haven’t shortened it as I like that it stands out. If it has the ability to, it deserves to.

I had a fantastic time and now I have this wonderful, fragrant, romantic piece of beauty sitting in my living room which I can see from almost every room in my home. The white rose and peony smell like the most natural sweet scent you could imagine. IMG_3822

I am even in love with the NAME of their shop!

Now, I have only seen photos and heard snippets of things about this floral shop on social media, word of mouth, etc., and I have to say, I am excited! I know they have beautiful arrangements for weddings, parties, just because (the best), holidays. One thing I didn’t know they hosted were Workshops.

Ashley and I will be attending a Floral Arranging Workshop!!!! What a sweet way to get quality visiting time in with a good friend, learn something new and take home the beautiful creation that adds beauty and the memory of the evening to your home!
