So some of my favourite days are ones filled with meetings & productive work but randomly & unexpectedly interrupted by friends calling & asking me to go for lunch somewhere fun rather than me sitting at my computer eating a kale salad with lemon juice, no salt (
ha! Who does that though really? Not me…..). Living in the Exchange district of the finally sunny Waterfront area, I have a wonderful bundle of friends who work in the vicinity & if able, I will meet them for impromptu, heavenly visits to those places that waft inciting, mouth-watering treats. Between the sit-down, walk-up and food truck destinations, you really can’t get bored.
What the hell took me so long? (Thank you Allana)
Unassuming, tantalizingly tasty, simple.
With a small menu that is powered by only guaranteed good choices, it is my perfect menu (anyone who knows me I am incredibly indecisive). You can usually choose from 3-4 main sandwiches, 1 of which is the special. There is a soup or two & pickled eggs & pickles – my fav – crunchy, tangy, cold. Order a fuzzy old school drink or grab a water on the side. Everyone there is always in a great mood & offering smiles.
Worth it. Try it.
I do not drink juice or pop often, so when I am out somewhere that is more casual, as I prefer H2O, I typically opt to open my purse & pull out my ice water filled S’well. I am obsessed. Mine is from StyleBar on River Ave in Osborne Village. After using a bottle that keeps your bevy ice cold for up to 24 hours, tea or coffee toasty for 12 hours or sparkling sipper very bubbly throughout the entire day (hello champagne on the dock!), you can never turn back.
My favourite part is because it has a double lined wall, there is NO condensation – away you go into my i-pad/i-phone/adorable paper tinted lip treatment/notebook – no risk of water damage. It makes me sing & life that much easier.
I have the medium 500ml sized bottle in Grapefruit Linen. They have smaller & larger ones (the larger holds 750ml, otherwise known to some as an entire bottle of wine…) & they all can be coveted in a multitude of finishes.
Now, backtracking…please ignore my very easily side-tracked mind, you saunter over to King + Bann & afterward, falling out the door full & satisfied of savoury, cozy food…you take a swift right to hook inside the next available door finding yourself breathing in a smell that no typical
Tim Hortons can give you.
I have always said I do not like donuts. They just didn’t seem that special. They were ok, but I would rather a jar of nutella.
I cannot even discuss these donuts. What I can tell you is that they open at 7am during the week and are always sold out before close at 2pm. Always. They do different kinds.
Each kind they dream up is special.
I had the Nutella Dipped Bronut. I was very happy.
