Oh, hey 2015, sorry I’m late…

Well, it definitely seems like it has been a decade.

Regardless, one day is too long. Many exciting things have happened in the time that has passed since I last posted. The holiday season came & ran feverishly & we fell into a new year of future memories that 2015 has begun to bestow upon us quickly.

I took a trip to a crisp, citrus laden valley in SoCal with my family & sweetheart, as well as one to a salty, sandy, Caribbean island with his family. Both wonderful. Full of quality time, relaxation & adventure – only 1 broken bone, but hey, habia cervezas.

Friends have gotten engaged, married, hit another year on their age chart, some are expecting (my best friend learned that she gets to paint her nursery lavander between that & the teal options she had bookmarked). Some have started looking for first homes, begun new jobs, relationships, the list goes on! It doesn’t matter what’s up in your own busy days, the world keeps spinning.

So out of the 29 days 2015 has experience, I have only been in Winnipeg for half of them. There are definitely some random things I am missing! Once this inconvenient broken leg gets itself together again, I will be beelining it for:

An afternoon of hot cocoa at the world’s longest skating rink

For those sad little ones under the weather like myself…we keep thinking flu season is going to kick it…try these home remedies to help:

Sore throat? Mix 1c of hot tea (not too hot! test to not burn yourself) with 1tsp lime juice, 1/2tsp sea salt. The warm water is soothing, salt is an antiseptic &  lime dries up the secretion glands & has healing properties. Gargle, do not swallow. This works wonders. 2-3x daily.

Cold or cough? Mix 1tbsp honey (the darker the better) & 1tsp cinnamon. Eat simply with a spoon or mix with one cup warm water & sip. 2x daily. **Be careful as this can be addictive…I have had 4 servings today already…it’s only 4pm…

Congested chest & coughing? Steam it away. Pour hot hot water into a bowl, add a few drops of tee tree oil & eucalyptus oil, place a towel over to trap the steam & inhale until the water has cooled resulting in no more steam being provided. When you inhale the steam you are taking in the anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, etc., properties in the oils. As often as you wish.

Upset tummy? Mix 1c hot water, chopped peppermint, chopped ginger & 1/2tsp honey. Sip to calm your stomach. Use fresh mint & ginger, organic is best or essential oils (read directions for oil amount & best use). Have every 2 hours if up for it. This is also great for anyone with morning sickness!!
